Understanding Teen Patti Table Positions and Turn Order

In Teen Patti, table positioning and turn order dictate strategic advantage.

In **Teen Patti**, table positioning and turn order dictate strategic advantage. Because betting rotates clockwise and action moves relative to the dealer, acting late in a betting round provides critical information about your opponents' hand strength.

---

1. Table Roles & Seating Positions

A standard Teen Patti table accommodates 3 to 6 players. Every hand revolves around four core positions:

* **The Dealer (D):** Marked by the dealer button. The dealer distributes 3 cards face-down to each player in a clockwise direction. The dealer always acts **last** in pre-flop and betting rounds, making it the most advantageous position at the table.
* **Small Blind / First Player:** The player sitting directly to the **left of the dealer**. This player opens the betting round.
* **Middle Positions:** Players seated between the first player and the dealer. They must make decisions after seeing early actions but before the dealer acts.
* **The Button / Late Position:** The dealer or the player seated directly to the dealer's right. Acting last allows you to see how many players have folded, called, or raised before committing chips.

---

2. Direction of Play and Rotation

1. **Clockwise Movement:** Cards are dealt clockwise, and action rotates **strictly clockwise** starting from the player to the immediate left of the dealer.
2. **Button Rotation:** After every completed hand, the Dealer Button shifts **one position to the left** (clockwise). This ensures every player rotates through early, middle, and late positions equally over time.

3. Play Order Mechanics: Blind vs. Seen Players

Turn order remains strictly clockwise, but a player's **betting cost** changes dynamically depending on whether they are playing **Blind** (without looking at their cards) or **Seen** (*Chaal* - after viewing their cards).

```
[ Dealer ] ──(Deals Clockwise)──► [ Player 1 (Left of Dealer) ]
▲ │
│ ▼
[ Player 3 ] ◄─────────────────────── [ Player 2 ]
```

* **Playing First (Early Action):**
* If Player 1 plays **Blind**, they pay the current minimum stake (e.g., 1 unit).
* If Player 1 chooses to play **Seen**, they must pay **double** the current stake (e.g., 2 units).

* **Following Players (Adapting to Action):**
* Every subsequent player on their turn must either **Fold**, **Call** (match the current required stake for their status), or **Raise** (increase the stake).
* A **Blind** player following a **Seen** player pays half of what the Seen player bet.
* A **Seen** player following a **Blind** player pays double what the Blind player bet.

4. Position-Specific Strategy Guide

PositionRelative OrderPrimary Tactical Goal
**Early Position** (Left of Dealer)Acts FirstPlay conservatively. Playing **Blind** early keeps your cost low while forcing late-position players to decide whether to pay double to see cards.
**Middle Position**Acts MiddleWatch early players for folds. If early players raise heavily, fold weak/marginal hands before spending chips.
**Late Position / Dealer**Acts Last**Maximum Advantage.** You hold complete information on how many players stayed in. Ideal position for requesting a **Side Show** from the player on your right or stealing the pot with a bluff.
